Description
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia AT150.40.AC.SD.A is a bold and spectacular representation of modern haute horlogerie, redefining the boundaries between fine watchmaking and kinetic art. Crafted in 18k rose gold, its commanding 50mm case is fitted with a highly domed sapphire crystal, offering a panoramic view of the Astronomia’s mesmerizing universe of complications.
At the heart of this exceptional timepiece is the gravitational triple-axis tourbillon, which rotates on three separate axes, each at a different speed—60 seconds, 5 minutes, and 20 minutes—demonstrating Jacob & Co.’s unparalleled engineering prowess. Orbiting alongside the tourbillon are three additional satellite arms: a rotating magnesium lacquered globe representing Earth, a faceted 288-facet Jacob-cut diamond symbolizing the moon, and an off-centered dial for the hours and minutes, crafted from blue lacquered aluminum and designed to remain upright as it orbits the dial once every 20 minutes.
This timepiece is powered by both an automatic and manual movement. The movement, entirely developed in-house, is suspended from a vertical support structure and features intricate hand-finishing, with components visible from nearly every angle through the transparent sapphire case. The dramatic visual motion, combined with the layered architectural construction, creates a constantly evolving mechanical sculpture that transcends traditional watchmaking.
A masterpiece of innovation and extravagance, the Astronomia AT150.40.AC.SD.A is not merely a timekeeper—it is a showcase of creativity and horological artistry, designed for collectors who seek the rare and the extraordinary in their watch collections.
