Description
The Richard Mille RM 72-01 ‘Charles Leclerc’ Monaco Edition is a bold tribute to the Monégasque Formula 1 driver and a technical evolution of the brand’s in-house chronograph architecture. Released in 2025 as a limited edition, this timepiece features a striking white and red Quartz TPT case—colors drawn directly from Leclerc’s national flag and personal livery. It is a perfect fusion of motorsport inspiration, cutting-edge materials, and uncompromising horology.
The case measures 38.4mm x 47.34mm x 11.68mm, with an ergonomic tonneau shape and curved lines for optimal wrist comfort and aerodynamics—qualities essential for a watch born from racing DNA. Quartz TPT, a proprietary material composed of hundreds of ultra-thin silica layers, is not only visually dynamic—with its marbled striations—but also exceptionally lightweight, durable, and resistant to thermal shocks.
The skeletonized dial reveals the Caliber CRMC1, Richard Mille’s first fully in-house flyback chronograph movement. This automatic movement breaks new ground with a double oscillating pinion system, allowing the chronograph to run independently of the timekeeping gear train—ensuring zero disruption to accuracy while the chrono is active. The movement delivers a 50-hour power reserve and features a semi-instantaneous date display and function selectorintegrated into the crown.
Red, white, and carbon accents throughout the openworked dial and flange subtly reference Leclerc’s racing colors, while the Flyback chronograph subdials—placed at 1, 5, and 9 o’clock—introduce a fresh layout that improves legibility and symmetry. Titanium pushers, a crown in Carbon TPT, and a white rubber strap complete the high-performance aesthetic.
The RM 72-01 Charles Leclerc is not only a celebration of one of motorsport’s brightest talents—it’s a testament to Richard Mille’s relentless push for innovation, independence, and technical excellence. Produced in extremely limited numbers, this is a true grail piece for collectors who live at the intersection of elite watchmaking and Formula 1 culture.
